1) The Freedom Voyage is a solo, round the world motorcycle expedition commemorating the Golden Jubilee of India’s independence.

2) The Journey is being undertaken by Rajeev Sabhlok, a keen adventure sportsman being a member of the Natural Adventure Foundation, former NCC cadet and having a record of motorcycle touring, parachuting, skydiving and instructing karate.

 3) The expedition salutes the spirit of adventure that lies in all of us and urges Indian youth to explore their hidden qualities in a quest for a meaningful life ahead. The expedition will promote India’s image internationally as a culturally rich, democratically committed, progressive nation.

 4) The event has the good wishes of His Excellency, Shri K.R.Narayanan, The President of India and the approval of all requisite ministries and Govt. departments.

 5) The 30,000 Km long journey is divided into 6 legs: 1) Europe, 2) South America, 3) North America, 4) Australia & New Zealand, 5) The Malay Peninsula and 6) India. The first leg commences from Turkey and covers Belgium, Romania, Hungary, Austria, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain and Portugal.

 6) The journey is being undertaken on a 500 cc Enfield Bullet Motorcycle manufactured by Royal Enfield Motors who are the main sponsors of the event. Carrier Aircon limited and Indian Express Group are the main co-sponsors of the event.

 7) The expedition has the support of the Department of Tourism, Govt. of India and is being flagged off on Friday, Oct. 31, 1997 by Shri M.P. BezBarua, Secretary (Tourism) from Parivahan Bhavan, Parliament Street, New Delhi and 1200 Hrs.
